Quiet

Went home from work early today, my throat was/is sore. But I spent some time outside taking things in, looking about. Seeds I planted last week have already begun to sprout. What was only three little green shoots last night has become a riot of bitty green dots on brown.
The blackberry hedge is shooting these massive canes out of the middle. They are impressive alien tentacles with sharp teeth to grab you and anything else in their way. Will have to chop them down soon.
blueberry's are ripening, turning from a lovely pea green to a deep blue purple. Two were ripe and tasted as good as I had hoped.
I have begun my foray into composting. So far, no smell. This is good.

Just sitting in the grass gazing at the yard, how lovely it is and seeing how lovely it will be. Havin g just moved in, it's like a blank canvas, brimming with life, fecund with earth, so much to do in such a fleeting NW summer. Bees buzz around, from blossom to blossom on the blackberry. The garden is teeming with insects, wasps, bees, millipedes, leaf hoppers, spiders of every shape and size, and flies. It's beyond relaxing to sit and look closely at everything the way I did for hours as a child, observing. Remembering.
